Ultravox – Brilliant (new single fan video)

One of my favourite bands of all time, Ultravox, are releasing their first album in nearly 30 years. The album is called “Brilliant” and is out on EMI on28th May. Here is the title track, which is due out soon, accompanied by quite a clever unofficial fan video. I’ll post the official video when it’s out. The song was recorded from the Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2. Links to buy the album and for the official Ultravox website/Facebook pages are there too. The album is already Number 1 in the Amazon UK pre-release chart!

The video is embedded via Vodpod (more about how I did that in the next post).

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Still blogifically schizophrenic

Blogifically Schizophrenic? What’s that supposed to mean? After setting up goodness knows how many blogs and different presences on the internet, I still can’t decide where to keep all my updates. There are only two places that I probably should really keep up with – this one (mistrust.wordpress.com) and my own website (mistrustmusic.co.uk). Some people, I read, say that you shouldn’t post the same information in two different places, so if you’re reading this, please tell me why not (not because you’ll get bored, but the actual technical reasons. I still can’t decide, still change from one to the other, and probably always will. Actually, I’ve come across a WordPress theme that I could use to make my main website look like a proper website and not a blog. That’ll solve a problem or three!

In the meantime, I’m lingering on 3997 plays on my Soundcloud page. If anyone reading this would like to hop on over and play one of my songs, please do. It’s looks bad when you’re stuck on a few short of a round thousand. You never know, you might actually like the songs too!

While you’re listening, why not say hello on Facebook too! I’ve just changed my music page from “mistrust” to “Tim Blackburn Music”. I’ve been sending out invitations to my friends on FB asking them to like “mistrust”. No wonder they didn’t take me up – probably no idea it was me!

After acumulating so many blogs on wordpress.com – for my music-making, for personal stuff, e-learning stuff, etc.,  I’ve decided to start posting anything non-“mistrust music” related on here. So, that means anything I want to talk about, things I come across and want to share, e-learning stuff, will appear on here.

Henceforth this blog will be known as “What I have learned today”.

I’m not closing down my other blogs just yet. Just starting from now, all my “stuff” will go on here, except music-making “stuff”. I’m just going to keep the mistrust music blog for things I’m doing with my remixes and other bits of what I’m upto music-wise.

So, if you’ve come here looking for a “mistrust remix” or info about “Half Past One”, hop on over to mistrustmusic.co.uk/blog

If not, say hello!

By the way, I’m on Twitter and Facebook

3 Alternative Ways To Post To WordPress

Did you know that you can post to a WordPress blog in a number of different ways? Here are 3 alternatives to create content in WordPress other than logging into the blog admin using the built-in editor.

Built into WordPress is the ability for the software to check an email account and post each message it finds to a blog. This serves as a quick and easy way to send an email message and publish new content.

To set this feature up, the fist thing you’ll need is a custom, secret, email account. Since WordPress posts everything that goes to this account, it can’t be one that serves more than one purpose, or that gets spam.

Once you have that, go into WordPress and go to the Settings > Writing page. There you’ll be asked for your email server, email login, and password.
