Profile
Hello…..I’m Tim Blackburn, resident of Bolton, UK. I make music under the name “mistrust”. You can find information about all my musical exploits, from making downtempo chillout tunes for the Myspace generation, to licensing my tracks for film and tv projects. Have a look around the site, listen to some tunes, and read the blog to keep up will all my latest news. If you’ve got a newsfeeder, please subscribe to keep up with all the latest information.
I don’t stick to one particular style - mainly through being a jack of some trades, master of none! It’s mainly electronic-instrumental stuff that I’ve done so far. My most popular tracks have been downtempo/chillout, and there are influences from bands like Massive Attack, Leftfield, Faithless, and loads of others. I’ve been making music on and off for over 10 years, but only recently made any of it public. I’m unsigned, but had an EP released on the Nishi netlabel, and I’ve also had some tracks played by DJs at the Big Chill Bar, Glitchnight, and other places. My main claim to fame is having some of my tracks used as background music and over the closing credits of 2 O’Neill surfing promo films, which have been shown on TV all round the world. More about my influences and sound-a-likes can be found on my myspace profile. Please add me!Check out the “Play music” page to listen to some music and download some free tracks.
As you can see from my main page picture, I’ve won a Yamaha XS6 keyboard/workstation, in a competition run by the Music Tech Magazine. The magazine ran a feature about it in the February 2008 edition.
